Road System

There are very few roads in comparison to the vast area of Alaska. But scattered along the road system, there are many small communities. Alaska Mission for Christ seeks to have a bold witness to the Gospel in these communities through Vacation Bible School, Sports Camps, and other Summer activities.

Interior

AMC continues to minister throughout Northeast and Western Interior villages, as well as Alaska's Arctic villages, one of the state's most diverse regions with a landscape ranging from coastal plains to mountain ranges. Native cultures prevalent in these northern regions of the state include Athabascan and Inupiaq. Travel to this area requires the use of jet or small aircraft from Anchorage or Fairbanks.

AMC began its work in these northern communities in 2019. Servant Event Teams from lower-48 communities partner with local leaders and elders to conduct Vacation Bible School Camps, Sports Camps, and Fine Arts Camps. Work and Witness projects are numerous, as well.

Southeast

Alaska Mission for Christ serves the remote region of Southeast Alaska, which has 30+ isolated communities of Tlingit, Haida, and Tsimshian people. Only two communities in Southeast Alaska are connected to the road-system. With over 70,000 sq. miles in the region, this presents a tremendous challenge to travel to the many disconnected communities of this area. Through the use of planes and ferries, short-term mission teams serve the people of the Southeast and deliver the Word of God to them.

Southwest

Southwest Alaska is a large and diverse area located between the Cook Inlet and the Bering Sea. Spanning hundreds of miles, this area includes coastal, forest, swamp, and mountain environments. Southwest Alaska is home to over 53,000 people, most of whom are Alaskan Natives of the Yup'ik, Alutiiq, and Aleut tribes.

AMC started work in SW Alaska in 1998 when a missionary couple began a houseboat ministry on the Kuskokwim River. This ministry has grown approximately 16 Servant Event Teams each summer.

Lay Leadership

Through partnership with the Alaska Circuits and the Northwest District, Alaska Mission for Christ is proud to be a part of training up local individuals for service to our Lord. Classes are taught by area pastors in both theological and practical ministry, so that these students might be equipped for every good work.

The Lay Leadership Training students come from all areas and backgrounds; fulfilling vocations in areas other than full-time ministry. Many are hoping to deepen their knowledge of Scripture to grow in faith and serve their neighbors through practical application of what is learned.
